Meet some of our incredible team:
Brian Quinn
Style: Hunter/Jumper, Show Jumping, Dressage, Fox Hunting
Brian is the longest working instructor here at NSEC. Brian is an expert rider who has trained in a variety of disciplines for over 30 yrs. He currently trains show jumpers and thoroughbreds for the racetrack.
He has trained and qualified and competed in national shows including the Hampton Classic and Arabian Nationals. Brian also loves to fox hunt every Sunday. But don’t worry, they’re fake foxes!
Brooke Chasin
Style: Hunter/Jumper, Show Jumping
Brooke started riding when she was 6 yrs old and has not stopped since. She grew up riding on the Long Island USEF show, hunter/jumper/equitation circuit and has ridden with many great trainers such as Eddie Horowitz, Laura Haagen, and Frank Madden.
Brooke has taken her students to Harrisburg, Devon and the Hampton Classic, taking home champion ribbons. She is also head coach of the NCAA equestrian team here at LIU Post campus.
Noah Chasin
Style: Dressage, Natural Horsemanship, Meditative Riding, Hunter/jumper, Show Jumping
Noah started riding when he was 5 yrs old. He grew up showing on the Long Island USEF show, hunter/jumper/equitation circuit. He started out showing mostly equitation, taking first place in the Hampton Classic and HITS horse shows and moved over to concentrating on the jumper division where he continued to win and place high. After leaving for college and taking a break from riding, Noah began practicing Zen meditation.
He learned by going to a Zen monastery for week long, silent meditation intensives (known as sesshins) as well as joining a prominent zendo in NYC where he would drive to once a week from his home on Long Island.
He also learned from books and most importantly practiced (sitting zazen) for an average of 3hrs a day for over 15 yrs. During this time he noticed a connection between his body and the horse.
He learning from his experiences and within 10yrs, created his own style of meditative riding. Not finding the hunter/jumper style of riding challenging enough for his mind/body connection work, Noah began to specialize in dressage, adding his own style of meditative riding to what he learned from many great instructors of whom he took lessons from, including Olympian Courtney King Dye.
Noah loves to teach meditation and his style of meditative riding. Noah has also been practicing natural horsemanship since 2016 (driving to Delaware once a week for a couple years in order to learn from his instructor). He is currently the go to person for working with “problem” horses at NSEC. He has trained his own horses to ride bridleless and works with all his horses in liberty.
Jen Doll
Style: Hunter/Jumper, Show Jumping
Jen started riding when she was 6 yrs old, and her passion for horses never disappeared. As a Junior rider, Jen competed from the grass roots of equestrian sports to the top of the equitation ring, competing in the USET Medal, and Maclay finals. Her competition experience earned her top placings in equitation and hunter classes at Devon, The Hampton Classic, and other large USEF competitions around the country. After her junior years, Jen rode for Virginia Intermont College on their IHSA team for a few years. Her equestrian professional career has provided the opportunity to work for top Equestrian professionals such as Ralph Caristo riding sale horses, and teaching students ranging from beginner to advanced.
Katie Rainis
Style: Hunter/Jumper, Show Jumping
Katie started riding at North Shore Equestrian Center when she was 8 yrs old and has been here since. She’s ridden with all the instructors here and now she keeps our school horses in shape and ready to go. She loves to compete in IHSA Alumni and through out her IHSA career, she has gone to Zone finals three times, which only a select few make it to. She started teaching here 10 yrs ago and has become a favorite ever since. Little tots love her!
